Tobacco jar - Lot 50
Tobacco jar Glazed porcelain, 19th century - France - A pair of composite pieces, each consisting of a midnight-blue glazed barrel from which emerges, in one, the head of a bourgeois woman wearing a Norman headdress, and in the other, that of her satisfied husband with white sideburns and a pink bow tie. Marked on the base with a curious zigzag symbol resembling a stylized 3 or S, perhaps the sculptor’s signature. Repairs, chips. H 20.5 cm
