Tobacco Jars Langeais earthenware, 19th* century Large cream-colored tobacco jar with platinum trim, decorated with pear tree branches bearing heavy pears and a few unhollowed branch buds. The lid’s fréthel is a curved branch. Marked with an X and the number VI—likely the marks of the mold maker and the decorator, as attribution to Charles de Boisimon is certain. Good condition, with small chips at the base. H 18.5 cm Tobacco jar Langeais earthenware, 19th century Tobacco jar decorated with a vine pattern and platinum highlights, thus dating from after 1862, the year Charles Heard de Boissimon was granted his patent. Marked “F” and “5” on the bottom of the jar and “5” in pen under the lid. Fréthel broken, with chips and wear H 12 cm Tobacco jar Langeais earthenware, late 19th century Tobacco jar with a creamy-colored base and platinum highlights, also dating from after 1862, depicting a bundle of cigars. Marked with a platinum “V” on the bottom of the jar and the same “V” number under the lid, perhaps to indicate the type of decoration or the decorator. Lid reattached and minor wear. H 11.5 cm Tobacco jar 19th-century Langeais earthenware Cream-glazed tobacco jar with platinum highlights depicting a tree trunk covered in vines, with hollowed-out branches serving as pipe holders. A larger secondary trunk, also hollowed out, and the match holder. A crack and wear on the silver plating, and chips on the lid. H 18 cm Tobacco jar Langeais earthenware, mid-19th century Tobacco jar with a cream-colored base and a vine design without platinum inlay. It is therefore a Lang piece marked “CB” for Charles de Boissimon and the letter “O.” A crack in the body; chips on the lid. H 12.6 cm Langeais earthenware, mid-19th century Identical shape to the previous piece, with a more classic cream base and platinum trim, depicting a vine that is less elaborate and more stylized than on jar 162.
