An octagonal pewter tobacco jar, also resting on four clawed feet. The body, featuring two lion heads with rings in their muzzles serving as handles, depicts a seated man smoking a pipe on the front and a dog in its kennel on the back, with the inscription “Rosser” or “Roller”— perhaps the animal’s name, as well as four bunches of grapes. The conical, two-tiered lid is topped by a seated greyhound. Rouen, late 18th–early 19th century (before 1842) H 21 cm
