A cast iron fireback pediment decorated with a coat of arms of the Orleans and Visconti families with leather scrolls and in the center two coats of arms framed by two dogs, XVIIth century. Height : 83 cm : 83 cm - Width : 126 cm The coat of arms decorating this fireback includes two coats of arms of allied families: - the two quarters with fleurs de lys are probably the arms of the Orleans family : "azure with three fleurs de lys or and a three-pointed label argent". - The two quarters with a snake are the arms of the Visconti family: "argent with a crowned guivre or engulfing a child gules". Genealogically Louis duke of Orleans (1372-1407) married Valentine Visconti in 1389. The crown is that of a member of the royal family of France. Louis duke of Orléans descended from Hugues Capet through Louis IX and is part of the Valois-Orléans branch.
