Hussar saber model 1752, late variant circa... - Lot 89 - Roanne Enchères
Hussar saber model 1752, late variant circa 1760, brass mounting, one-piece cap, leather-covered spindle, gutter-backed blade, remains of legible engravings of a cavalryman and "vivat hussard", engraved back where one guesses "Jean Knecht fabriqueur à Solingen". Total length 99 cm, blade of 84,5 cm, width at the heel 32 mm, arrow 60 mm. Leather scabbard with two gouges foreshadowing the scabbards inspired by Prussian models during the Seven Years War. This type of scabbard can be found on the sabers of the Regiment des Volontaires de Clermont-Prince dating from the same period. Remains of strong oxidation, play to the mount. This saber was used to illustrate the works of M. Pétard: "Les sabres des hussards" and "Des sabres et des épées, tome 1, n° 59a".
