Revolutionary Model 1763 flintlock pistol. Initially 3-flute - Lot 182
Revolutionary Model 1763 flintlock pistol. Initially 3-fluted, then round barrel, 17.1 mm caliber. Flat-bodied (functional) lock and hammer, faceted steel pan. All brass fittings, stamped steel ramrod. Walnut frame marked MP on counterplate side. Weapon in excellent condition, with no markings or hallmarks on metal parts. The front of the trigger guard is no longer of the "demi-charolaise" shape, but evolves towards the "goutte de suif" shape of the future AN9, with screw fixing on the escutcheon instead of pin fixing in the wood, and a 3-sided barrel. Probably an early revolutionary manufacture, the fittings still being in brass (according to Boudriot, the Maubeuge factory was still making 1763-66 pistols in Year X). Overall length 40 cm, barrel 23 cm. Category D.
