Model 1833 boarding saber, so-called fencing model, regulation, intended for sailor training, rarer than the combat model. Black-painted "pot-spoon" mounting, curved blade with one hollow side, well marked Manufacture Royale de Chatellerault June 1840, with anchors on each side, gray appearance. The tip of the blade is fitted with a rounded, riveted brass knob for safe training, preventing the use of a scabbard, which is otherwise useless for fencing.
