Model 1822-99 artillery officer's saber. Brass 3-prong mount decorated with acanthus leaves, monogrammed MH on the heel, slightly bent front end probably due to impact, black horn spindle with watermark. Blade 1822, curved with one hollow side and one flat-backed gutter, well marked "Manufacture Nationale d'Armes de Chatellerault Août 1916 Officier d'Artillerie Mèle 1822-99". Single-strap steel scabbard, unshocked. Total length 104.5 cm, blade 84.5 cm. An unusual saber model.
