LEFAUCHEUX Model 1858 12 mm pinfire revolver. Stamped with a naval anchor on the right side of the barrel, frame well marked LF and "Breveté SGDG Paris", top of barrel marked "InventionE.Lefaucheux". Single action, 6 shots, powerful springs, good indexing. Light gray brushed metal finish with minor oxidation. Smooth varnished walnut plate. In a box with key, accompanied by a visiting card marked "Le Capitaine de Vaisseau De Surville, Commandant du Yatch Impérial L'Aigle, Membre du Conseil Général du Var". By family tradition, this revolver was the weapon used by Captain De Surville, commander of Napoleon III's Imperial Yacht. Category D.
