Remington Rolling Block “Egyptian” rifle, in very good condition; the metal parts have a beautiful, uniform tobacco-brown patina, and the rifling is in very good condition. No markings; caliber 43 Egyptian (11.43 x 50 mm R). Yatagan-style bayonet with a straight, diamond-shaped blade. Dates from the 1870 War during the National Defense period. (After the fall of the Second Empire in September 1870, the French government of National Defense purchased a large number of diverse weapons from the United States to continue the war against the Germans. Survivors of the American Civil War, these weapons—most of which were poorly used—would not change the course of the war…). Very good for shooting. Category D.
