Light Cavalry, Mounted Chasseur, or Hussar saber of Revolutionary-era manufacture. Single-branch brass hilt, wooden tang covered with sheepskin (broken watermark), stick-shaped guard. Thick, curved blade with a single hollow edge and a flat spine, marked “A P” (the “P” is barely legible) for the Paris Workshop. Some scattered oxidation, more pronounced toward the tip. Sheath with wooden gussets covered in black cowhide (showing wear and cracks), three brass fittings decorated with a double fillet, repair to one loop pin, minor dents. Total length 105.5 cm, blade length 89.5 cm. In its original condition.
