Polychrome Bohemian terracotta 19th century Head of a monk smoking a pipe. To say the least, this man of God is anything but venerable, with his mischievous blond lock of hair peeking out from under his hood, his rosy cheeks, and his satisfied smile. Life’s pleasures seem to occupy him more than meditation or prayer. No mark, but a similar model—minus the pipe—is listed in Horowitz under number 96 as coming from the Brothers Urbach (BU) factory. Good condition. H 18 cm.
