Tobacco Jar
Barbotine, late 19th–early 20th century—England.
A bewildered-looking head wearing a boater hat with a green ribbon, featuring a compartment for a moistening sponge, serves as the lid for this jar.
Its elongated triangular face, accentuated by two red sideburns, resembles the characters from the English comic strip *Sloper*.
Marked with the stylized numbers 1 and 34.
Listed in Horowitz, under number 123.
Wear on the nose.
