Tobacco Jar - Lot 37
Tobacco Jar White glazed porcelain with 19th-century gilding A sapper with a luxuriant beard, in the style of the “Camembert sapper,” wearing a ridiculous white apron with small blue flowers, ostentatiously wipes his forehead with a handkerchief. He is equipped with field gear, including a sword at his side and a backpack. The fur cap he holds under his right arm is hollow and serves as a container for matches or cigarettes. Patina from use. Possibly from the Conta & Böhme factory. Engraved with the number 292 and hand-painted with “jl 92.” Wear on the decoration. H 24.5 cm
