Lovers Caught in the Act
Two lovers, who were flirting in the shade of a haystack, are about to be caught by the young woman’s husband or father, perched atop the haystack with a stick in his hand. The suitor has set aside his tools: a scythe, a wooden pitchfork, and a rake. Near the young woman, a hollowed-out log serves as a match holder.
