Tobacco Jar Glazed earthenware, late 19th century—Roanne, Augoyard and Perron. Brown glazed jar with a relief decoration of green oak leaves and acorns; the lid was likely made of cork or pig’s bladder. Marked with the number 21. Recently made. Wooden lid included. Parts of the decoration are missing. H 11.5 cm Tobacco jar Mid-19th-century earthenware, circa 1805–1815—Roanne— White earthenware merchant’s tobacco jar decorated with garlands, flowers, and fruit in the obe style. The body is marked in large black letters: “Tabac impérial n° 3.” This jar was sealed with a copper lid, a cork stopper, or a sheet of parchment or pig’s bladder. No mark. Heavily restored. H 16.5 cm Tobacco jar. High-fire earthenware—France (Roanne)—circa 1850 Repairs, cracks, and chips.
