Late 19th-century porcelain biscuit Square tobacco jar depicting a small Chinese-style house, made of matte biscuit porcelain painted in red and black, with a glazed black roof serving as a lid, on which an elderly, bearded Chinese man sits cross-legged, wearing a blue-and-white porcelain kimono. Inside the lid is a compartment for a humidifying sponge. No mark. H 15.5 cm
