Boiled cardboard, early 19th century Boiled cardboard box. The floral decoration around the rim of the pot surrounds two medallions depicting allegories of love: In the first, a cherub holding a flag places a heart on a stone pedestal. In the second, the same cherub plants another flag at the tip of a giant phallus. On the bottom of the jar, a label reads “Au Panier Fleuri.”* No maker’s mark. *At that time, Le Panier Fleuri was a very popular brothel. H 13 cm
