Porcelain and bisque, late 19th century - Lot 137
Porcelain and bisque, late 19th century A large beige and cream tobacco jar depicting a house covered in Virginia creeper, whose intertwined branches serve as handles. From the two windows, two women made of bisque call out to a man in Breton attire—also made of bisque—who is about to step outside. Above the door, a cartouche bears the word “Tabac.” The lid is shaped like a two-story thatched roof. No markings other than the number 10, but it originates from Daoulas in Finistère. Missing: Frethel and one arm of a woman at the window, plus chips on the hat. H 27.5 cm
