Bohemian glazed earthenware - Lot 145
Bohemian glazed earthenware
19th century
Head of a smiling Black woman with delicate features—perhaps an Ethiopian—whose abundant, curly hair is partially covered by a pretty turquoise veil with fringed edges. A gold clasp secures the white scarf wrapped around her neck.
Marked “BB” for Bernard Bloch, “366,” and the initials “Dep” in a cartouche indicating a registered design.
Wear and chips on the lid.
