19th-century glazed black earthenware with a patina of age A pot depicting a haughty Chinese magnate, sword at his side, wearing a topknot and a robe. His right hand holds a fan, and under his left arm is a small monkey. His expression is slightly ironic; a sun is painted on his chest, and on his back, the head of a smirking Buddha. Marked on the base “A C”—meaning to be determined, but likely Bohemia, circa 1870? Crack and lid restored. H 20.5 cm
