Early 20th-century Bohemian glazed terracotta - Lot 166
Early 20th-century Bohemian glazed terracotta Composite image showing a beige bag, imitating burlap with clearly visible seams, cinched by a double blackish cord tied in a large knot at the junction of its upper third and lower two-thirds, marking the boundary between the pot-shaped body and its lid. From the torn top emerges the bust of another Boy Scout wearing a khaki shirt and a light brown, wide-brimmed hat that serves as a handle. The work is extremely meticulous, as is typical of this potter. Marked on the bottom with “JM” for Johann Maresch, followed by a symbol shaped like an 8, and on the underside of the lid, the number 3689—likely the mold number. Chip on the hat. H 21.5 cm
