19th-century Bohemian polychrome terracotta - Lot 186
19th-century Bohemian polychrome terracotta Tall tobacco jar depicting, full-length, a potbellied monk wearing a skullcap, his habit protected by a large blue apron tied at the front, with his hands clasped on his belly. This model closely resembles the one depicted in Horowitz under number 310, though it differs in the position of the thumbs and, above all, in the face, which here is less chubby and much more severe. Marked on the base with “BB” and the number 8110 or 8118. Signs of wear; lid has been reattached. H 26 cm
