A beautiful depiction of a sailor—bearded and mustached, with a cigar in the corner of his mouth—wearing a whimsical accordion-style cap that serves as the lid for this very expressive tobacco jar. Polychrome Bohemian terracotta 19th century Engraved on the bottom are the number 9419 and the letter B, which, in my opinion, is a printing error; this head is most likely a BB. Slight chips. H 18 cm
