Tobacco jar - Lot 201
Tobacco jar Unfired terracotta, second half of the 19th century A whimsical composite depicting Napoleon III, looking a bit grumpy, wearing a dented top hat and a frock coat with epaulets, who appears to be emerging from a sack of gold coins. Viewed in profile, the absence of arms makes him resemble a penguin. No mark, but formerly from the collection of Eugène Jance (label J 1858) and formerly from the Seita collection (lot 286 of the Riom auction on October 3, 2009). Chips + crack. H 25 cm
