A whimsical tobacco jar depicting a grotesque figure sitting in a large armchair, weighed down by the burden of his own intelligence, pointing with his right index finger at the inscription on his head—a sort of large globe that reads: “I know everything.” Also available in a matte finish under the same catalog number. The sculptor clearly intended to mock a certain pedantic and arrogant intelligentsia of the time… even back then! Early 20th-century slipware Marked 4323 in relief and “Là la plume.” This model is listed in the catalog of the Fabrique des Bruyn in Fives, Lille. Normal crazing and micro-chips. One crack + hairline cracks. Height: 18.5 cm
