Partially glazed terracotta, late 19th century A whimsical oval-shaped tobacco jar depicting a Japanese man on all fours, looking astonished, with his head resting in one hand. Only the brown kimono, with a pistachio-green sash, is glazed. On the left shoulder is a depiction of a lobster with white rings, whose two antennae cover the back of the figure, which serves as a lid with a humidifying sponge. Note that the interior of the jar is fully glazed. No mark. Bohemian? The lid is missing its handle and has chips. H: 13 cm - 5.1 in - W: 17.5 cm - 6.9 in
