Glazed earthenware and leather, 20th century - Lot 223
Glazed earthenware and leather, 20th century Urn-shaped pot covered in leather. On the upper third of the body, three earthenware representations of Gambier pipe bowls with beards and turbans are attached; these are hollowed out to serve as pipe holders. The lid, also covered in leather and fitted with a humidifying sponge, is topped by a handle that replicates the bowl of Gambier’s famous “Jacob” pipe; it, too, is hollowed out to serve as a match holder. Marked “Longchamp France.” Some missing leather. Height: 20.5 cm
