Silver plated metal, engraved “USA XX* century” This cylindrical, bottomless container is actually a planter, perhaps given to consumers as a promotional item, made from the tin packaging of the pipe tobacco blend: “Blue Boar Rough Cut” by the “American Tobacco Company.” Engraved on the body is a scene of an American town with a stagecoach stopping in front of an inn: the “Blue Boar Inn.” On the lid is a depiction of a wild boar, likely blue. A locking mechanism at the bottom of the set secures the box within its protective cover. Engraved under the lid: “Reed and Barton.” Distortions and wear. Height: 16 cm
